Factoids about moi:

1. When I was in high school I *really* wanted a second piercing in my ear. I was told I could do what I wanted when I turned 18. So I went to college and got a piercing my first semester of freshman year. But I was still 17 - December baby here. I used my friend's ID and prayed the guy didn't ask me any questions about West Virginia. Before meeting her I didn't even know black people *lived* in West Virginia. So he definitely couldn't ask me any questions. I digress. I had to hide that piercing all Thanksgiving and winter break and act like I got it when I came home again during the Spring semester. It was kind of fun to do but mostly stressful! Sorry mom.

2. I was voted most musical in high school! I played clarinet in the symphonic band and concert band. I was also in the choir and jazz choir (alto thank you very much). And for the musicals, I played in the pit orchestra. Pit orchestra was really really fun now that I think about it.

3. The first item I bought with money earned from my first job (camp counselor) was a gold Mickey Mouse ring from Costco.

4. My favorite gift my parents ever gave me was a craft of the month club package. I got a new thing to do every month. By month 4 I think I was worn out. But I loved that they understood me.

5. I have a serious Pringles addiction. Let's just leave it at that.

6. All those years in marching band did not help me fathom the game of football. It was only when I played Madden NFL that I grasped what was going on.

7. I would like to learn French!

mmm...yummy big news

So my little sister is getting married in a month -almost a complete surprise! If I didn't tell you and you feel you should know, now you know (provided you read my blog of course)!

And my big sister is expecting! - still early days yet so if you know my sister and you're reading this don't go running your mouth.

So my mom basically said she can't handle anymore excitement so I have to keep things calm. I told her she need not worry. The biggest thing going on in life is my lip balm.

While it might not seem monumental, if you know me, you know I love lip balm. I think in my yearbook there is even something printed for all eternity that reflects my love of lip balm.

Anyway, I found the shop KreatedbyKarina a while back but did not take the lip balm plunge until recently. She is a bath and body seller on Etsy and she has some pretty awesome looking things. Like rose petal soap?!?!? I think I might need to get some for my mother in law for her bathroom. It is sooo her.

But back to my lip balm. I got two flavors - Peppermint Ice Cream and Vanilla Frosted Cupcake. They are absolutely yummy!!! They are made with shea butter and feel so nice going on.

So mom, that is my big news. I love lip balm and found some really great flavors. I wonder which one I should try next...perhaps New York Style Cheesecake...

Pumpkin Picking!!! How to pick

Well today we went pumpkin picking. I have never picked a pumpkin in my life. It was cold and windy but it was fun! David had a blast going around trying to choose pumpkins. In the end we got this one:


Need help on what you need to go pumpkin picking? I know I did (I'm a city gal. I was all out of my element). My fellow Etsian, WinchesterLambourne, had some great information. Hope you can find it useful! Here it is below:

WinchesterLambourne says:

- Select a pumpkin that is completely orange. (Green don't ripen in time or even at all after you pick them) - Size is an important factor. Medium pumpkins are best for pumpkin carving. Small pumpkins are better for cooking. - Do not lift or carry a pumpkin by it's stem. The pumpkin stem gives it character. - A ripe pumpkin has a hard shell that does not dent or scratch easily when pressing on it with a thumbnail. Do this on the back or bottom of the fruit.......never on the face or you'll get mobbed by the seller LOL. - Examine the entire pumpkin carefully for soft spots. If you find even one soft spot, go on to the next pumpkin. - Check the pumpkin for cracks and splits. If you find one, examine it to be sure it is not turning into a soft spot or has mold inside of the crack. - Look for bugs and insects. Specifically, look for holes in the pumpkin, which are indicative of insect problems. And, finally equipment wise: - Bring a small wagon with you. It's easier to haul tired kids and pumpkins. - Wear boots or old sneakers. It could be wet and muddy in the pumpkin patch. - Bring a sharp knife or pruner. - Cut the vine on either side of the stem. After you get it home, you can trim off the remaining pieces of vine, and cut the stem at the perfect spot.

I'm playing around with it. I changed the banner to match my store. And then of course the colors became all wrong. I am thinking I'm going to change the layout as well.

Boy, how weird is it that as soon as I write off my blog, I start paying attention to it. heh.
