Too Much Birthday

Did you ever read that Berenstain Bears book "Too Much Birthday?"
That's how I feel about the amount of cake that's left from Young Master Beads party. lol. Other than that it was not too much birthday. It was just enough! :D

Highlights:

♥ Young Master acting all bashful and coy when we were all singing Happy Birthday. This is after months of going on and on about having a party and basically being the center of attention. lol. See here:

Mr. Beads and friend doing the decorating!

My mother-in-law going to work on the Wii!

A good time was had by all and I wish you could all have been there!

Stamped. Sick. Selebration.

Yes I spelled celebration wrong but I wanted it all to match. lol. More on that later.

So remember how a week or so ago I told you I was working on personalized stamping pieces? Well here is my first piece! I couldn't wait to add to the shop this week so I added it on Saturday. lol. I am excited because apparently it landed on Etsy's front page yesterday! Woot! So I made this thinking about my anniversary but I made a bit of a mistake. I'd been practicing stamping for so long that I kind of went into auto mode and stamped the wrong date for my anniversary. lol! My husband forgives me. :D

In other news my son caught a cold somewhere and passed it along for me. Yay! (sarcasm). I have been taking Target's brand of Zicam. The dissolvable one not the one that has been making people lose their sense of smell. It has been working pretty well at keeping my symptoms from getting worse but I don't know that I am actually getting better.

But because I feel about 95% I have of course not *really* slowed down as I should to knock it out completely. I can't stop moving! Tomorrow is young Master Bead's third birthday and his party is this weekend so of course for the past two weeks I've been working on preparations!

And I want to have all current orders mailed out by tomorrow so that I can focus on getting everything ready for the party. Including myself. :D

I'm taking young Master to the free movies today (Regal Free Family Festival) in the hopes that I can maybe fall asleep a little and gain some energy. Is that wrong? lol.

Other Things I've Made

Like most artists I know, I like working in more than one medium. Once upon a time I was completely obsessed with sewing. This came after I was completely obsessed with knitting. lol. My husband sometimes wants me to go back to knitting because it's quiet. lol.

My sister asked me to make her the ring bearer pillow for her wedding and I have had her sewing machine ever since. * I started making my own tops and even made a pair of pants. I'd even sold a couple of bags I made while I was working to co-workers who saw mine and wanted one! That was many moons ago and have since given away most of my fabric on FreeCycle in an effort to really focus in on my jewelry. I think it was a wise decision. Anyhoo...

I was doing a bit of late spring cleaning and came upon this and thought it would be fun to post up. I made it about 3 years ago...

I would love to see some work you've done that is not your known "thing!" Post a link below!

*Come to think of it, she asked me to go to the bead store to pick out the beads for her bridesmaid jewelry too and that's how I got back into jewelry. Thanks J!

love. milestones. peppers. growth.

A lot has been going on over here recently. Saturday was my anniversary. 7 years married to the hubs. I can hardly believe it. Marriage is hard work ya'll. We dropped young Master Beads off at his cousins' house for the night and went out for dinner and a movie. I told you it was hard work. All that eating and relaxing wore me out! ;D

In other news, I was totally minding my business and deliberately did not turn on the computer until 2:30 PM because I didn't want the seemingly senseless web surfing I sometimes engage in, to keep me from my goal of shipping all current orders out of the shop. Well imagine my surprise when I log on to Etsy to print out some receipts and found out that:
I hit 500 sales! Woohoo!

And to continue with the out of the ordinary food thing, take a look at what I found when I was cutting up a red pepper to use in our dinner the other day...

Yes. A pepper growing in a pepper. Cool right? And a little creepy.

And I've been working on trying to learn how to stamp letters on metal correctly. I've really avoided the whole personalization thing (you know-cute stamped disc necklace with your kid's name on it) for quite some time but I think I'm going to dive in. But of course it will be the Beads in the Belfry way and not just any old way. Stay tuned for what that means (as I continue to figure it out myself. hee hee). I told one friend one of my ideas and she literally swooned over the phone. I think that is a good response, no?

Snack Attack!

I couldn't make this stuff up if I wanted to. We (Young Master Beads and myself) were enjoying a snack of gold fish on the patio and watching the rain fall yesterday evening when we happened across the shark goldfish! Rather than selling it on eBay for thousands of dollars we took a picture and then Young Master ate it. :D

I edited the title of this post to something more apropos and punny. ;D

Life is...

“Life is just a bowl of cherries, dont take it serious, its mysterious. Life is just a bowl of cherries, so live and laugh and laugh at love, love a laugh, laugh and love.” - Bob Fosse

After I took the picture of the cherries it was requested that I take a picture of some little person's pizza crust. Wonder what Bob Fosse would say about a plate of pizza crust which gets me to wondering...

What would you say about life being like a plate of pizza crust?

I'll go first. I'll say:

"Life is a plate of pizza crust. Hard on the outside but soft on the inside. It's fragile yet flexible; breakable and meant to be shared. It's greasy and bad for you, but mostly enjoyable and to be savored to the very end." - me ;D

I hope someone will play along with me and leave their own quote in the comments!
